BRIGHTON - The annual Brighton Applefest Car Show
promises to be the biggest and best in its history.
The highlight of the car show, to be held Saturday, Sept. 28,
will be special guests
Danny "The Count" Koker
and Kevin Mack
from the popular series Counting Cars.
It’s the first time The Count
has made an appearance in Canada.
The car show has been running since 1975,
but is coming off a two-year hiatus because a new school was
being built where the car show takes place.
"As the owner of a Las Vegas repair shop
performing 15 years of vehicle restoration,
Danny Koker is full of knowledge and passion," says organizer Don Postma.
"We are thrilled to be featuring the Counting Cars duo this year." Postma said funding for the special appearances comes
entirely through sponsorships and car show registration.
Koker and Mack will be at the show for five hours.
During that time they will hold an autograph session and
it’s anticipated they will be walking through the show
and talking to some of the cars' owners.
Postma said there is also the chance that if Koker
sees that "special" ride, he may buy the vehicle on the spot
for his collection like he’s done in the past on his television show.
The Counting Cars duo will also be handing out five trophies
to the top vehicles in the show which will certainly
be a highlight for any car that gets picked, Postma said.
Recently confirmed for the show will be a
TV and movie car section featuring replica cars including
The General Lee (Dukes of Hazzard, 1969 Charger),
Roscoe P. Coltrane police car (Dukes of Hazzard)
and the Ford Torino from the Starsky and Hutch show.
It’s anticipated 700 vehicles will be displayed at the show.
In other years the maximum number of vehicles at the show was 300 due to space.
The Brighton Applefest Car Show takes place at Brighton Public School, 24 Elizabeth St.,
on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.?Admission to the show is $1 for adults.
Children are admitted free of charge. ?The venue is currently full, but organizers are
looking for more space. To register a vehicle in the event more space is found,
go online at www.brightonapplefest.ca or call Don Postma at 613-920-5554 .
?A free draw will be held for a 110 cc ATV from Hosking Motorsport for anyone at the show.

This is the last year of US hosting this, because of the lack of participation.
When we officially started the Scholarship fund I told Cheryl
I would stop Hosting this event when it reached $10,000.00, we are close to $12,000.00 .
We hope to make it to $15,000.00 this year ( 2011 ) .
Every year we use a few of OUR OWN credit cards to pay for over 50 % of the event.
Even with the few Sponsors, and friends that chip in,
it still leaves a big DEBT, that goes right onto our credit card.
We stop making T Shirt after 2008.
Why make a shirt that people will not buy ?
The Cost of putting this 2 day event together is crazy,
with all of the other events that are the same weekend.
The Cost of The Air Fare for the Celebrities coming in,
Rental of the Building at the Fair Grounds ( & all of the paperwork involved ),
Event Insurance, Stage Rental, Kids Blow Up Bouncy Thing, Food & Drinks for all of the Volunteers,
Printing of Flyers, Plus all advertising Costs, plus so much more I cannot remember right now....
Plus all of the cost for us to do everything, and our time.

2nd Annual Hazzard Run Heads From Music City to Gatlinburg
On Saturday October 9th, a convoy of cars from "Hazzard County" will travel from Nashville to Gatlinburg as part of the 2nd Annual Hazzard Run, a gathering of "General Lees", the ever popular 1969 Dodge Charger from the hit t.v. series "The Dukes of Hazzard." According to Ben Jones, who played the mechanic sidekick "Cooter" on the CMT show, more than 25 "Generals", plus Hazzard County Sheriff's cars and other vehicles from the show, will gather in Nashville on Friday night and head for the Smoky Mountains on Saturday morning, culminating in a parade through Gatlinburg at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. "These are folks who really enjoy the show, love old Chargers, and love getting together and cruising the highways of America. There are hundreds of "Generals" throughout America, and sometimes we get together for a cruise along some of our country's beautiful roads. We had a ball doing this event last year, and of course we really turned some heads. The "General" is the most famous car on the planet!" Jones will be there along with Rick Hurst, who played "Deputy Cletus" on the ever-popular series. After the parade, the cars will gather at the parking lot next to "Cooter's" in downtown Gatlinburg, where fans can meet the car owners and chat with "Cletus and Cooter". The show will continue on Sunday, Oct. 10th. Hope y'all can come join us and participate or join us as a spectator!
